Thank you for these tips. I am buying a house built in1924. It has some original old woodwork and built in drawers, doors ect.Someone started painting the area around the closets and door ways, then obviously had a “oh, crap” moment and stopped. They also painted the wood around the floors. I want to strip and refinish it.I had no idea about what the best way would be. Should I also remove all of the old varnish and stain from the surrounding areas then completely retain and varnish it all at once for uniform color.
Judi, try these posts for paint removal. https://thecraftsmanblog.com/?s=paint+strip
I would remove all the old finish from the are till you get to a good stopping point and then stain and varnish that whole section.
