Review of Handmade Walls {22 inspiring ideas on bringing your walls to life}

handmade_walls_sneak_peek

I’m seriously excited to share a new book with you today! Today is the official launch of Handmade Walls: 22 Inspiring Ideas on Bringing Your Walls to Life. It is a fantastic new book by my friends Jamin & Ashley Mills over at The Handmade Home.

These two are some of the most creative (not to mention good natured) people I know. I have followed their blog for years to get great ideas on decorating with a salvage and shabby-chic kind of style that is so appropriate for old homes.

I wanted to give a quick preview of what you can find inside because I think that if you like what we do at The Craftsman you’re going to love this book! Plus, you can get it today for $9.95 which is a serious steal for 250 pages worth of ideas and how-to’s.

Handmade Walls: 22 Inspiring Ideas on Bringing Your Walls to Life

Jamin and Ashley are masters at making a house a home. I don’t know if it’s just the awesome photography on their blog and in this book, but they create the kind of scenes that I just want to live in.

All of us, myself included, struggle with ways to personalize our home and truly make it our own.They have put together 22 very cool projects to adorn your walls and they really break down each step and make them doable for even the most DIY averse people. Here is the scoop on the book:

  • More bang for your buck: The price for each project in this book averages only about $35. Compared to those big box store prices this definitely puts you ahead in the pocket book department. Each project can also be adjusted for your own individual needs.
  • Divided into three project sections: Frames, Art, and Functional Projects: Functional is probably my favorite section because of the variety of different projects like the awesomely big Windsor Clock. There is also a very helpful Tips & Tricks section at the end that gives some great ideas for how to get those distressed wood finishes with paint and stain.
  • Step by step: Every project has an easy step by step process outlined for you with plenty of pictures to guide you along the way. They also provide you with a complete cut and supply list, price bracket, difficulty level, and time required for each project so you know exactly what you’re getting into. That alone makes the project so much easier to plan.
  • Beyond the basics: Handmade Walls also includes a project reference guide and supplies glossary where you’ll find ideas for finishing off those projects. From advice on their favorite tools, to paint colors and step-by-step techniques to help you along the way.

Handmade wallsIn full disclosure, I am an affiliate for Jamin & Ashley’s book, so I do get a small commission (at no extra cost to you) if you do decide to purchase a copy through my blog. But the reason I became an affiliate for them was because I recognize and appreciate quality work. And when I find things that I want for my own home I can’t help but share them with y’all.

So, whether you decide to buy the book through one of my affiliate links {Handmade Walls} or directly from their website is not a concern for me. I just hope that you’ll check out this fantastic book and maybe even subscribe to their blog to keep getting great ideas for your old home. I may be able to teach you how to save and repair your old home, but when it comes to decorating these guys are out of my league.

    I’m a huge fan of The Handmade Home blog too! We need this book because we’ve been in our house for over a year now and are total chickens when it comes to hanging things or doing anything new to our house! :}
